hi, my name is amelia and i am a lesbian

unfortuantely for me, i am hated and and disrespected by millions who do not know me but feel that i should be defined by my sexuality. i am called things like butch, dyke, and oh right an abomination. i think it sucks that people are perverted enough to care about who i want to kiss and who i want to love. its more important for people to know such things rather than the fact that ink and paint cartoons make me cry with joy. it really hurts, you know?
another thing i don't understand: republicans denounce big government, but feel the need to regulate who people marry. i hate the fact that one day i might want to marry someone but ...can't. becasue i'm disgusting and perverted and mentally deformed. totally awesome.

It really pisses me off that both sides are against straight up gay marriage, I really don't believe that "civil unions" are enough although it is a thought.

the thing is, is doesnt really matter what the candidates think about gay marriage...

gay marriage is a decision left up to the state, and there isnt really anything the president can do about it.

i know that this is about the idea of it and the outrage behind the principle, but honestly marriage is only a legal term and its only benefits have to do with money.

if you want the idea of marriage, the sacred bond with another person...well you can always always have that.

The only thing either of them can do is put pressure on congress, but it truly is a state power not a federal power.

the president appoints justices to the supreme court
president bush wants a CONSTITUTIONAL AMENDMENT (big deal!) banning gay marriage
if he appoints the 'correct' justices he can pass this amendment and his supreme court will not deem it unconstitutional

*mind you he already has appointed clarence thomas, a man who sexually harrassed office workers (smart right?)

the power of the president in this arena is HUGE, the appointment of certain judges will also possibly determine whether Roe v Wade is overturned.

leaving it to the states wouldn't help, most states would be able to amend their constitutions to ban gay marriage.
